Sorry.

Dear Mum and Dad,

I know you don't like us saying sorry and say that we have to show you in our actions, so I will. But I decided I'd tell you what it means to me.

Sorry is when you hurt someone (whether it's inside or out) and then you feel hurt too because you have made them upset. You don't know what to do so you cry. It's the only way you can bring what's inside you out. But not in words, in tears. You cry until you feel bad about what you did and then you go stiff and then you want to say sorry but you're scared to and you don't know how.

And then you make up and it feels nice and then everything goes back to normal. But I don't want it to. I want to listen to what you said, breathe it in and let it out.

No one said living in a caravan would be easy all the time. We knew we would all have our moments and sometimes it wouldn't be fun but I am going to try harder and work harder on everything.

I love you guys so, so, so, so, so much and would never mean to hurt you.

I didn't mean anything I said back then, I was angry and I love you. I do appreciate everything you do for us so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so much and I will try from now on to have as much fun as possible.

I love you way past the moon and way further back and I know you love me too.

Love Indi

Mwa!

  21. Kate, I began reading this thinking it was from you to your parents! (picture of indi didn't load straight away). And I was thinking that you nailed it on the head, what it means to feel and express sorrow. Boyoboy, you and your hubby have done a wonderful job in raising such a mature thinking young lady. There are plenty of adults out there that can act-up like a spoilt child but never apologise in words or actions. Very touching. xx

  34. I think the writing leaf hasn't fallen far from the tree.... what I mean to say in my probably incorrect metaphor is that I think indi has inherited your ability to put feelings into words... something not many of us can do... and at such a young age....

What a beautiful girl she is, inside and out... you must be so proud.

And what a lovely trip to 'come of age', it reminds me of those books you read in highschool like ello and the diary of anne frank.
Not the war bit, just how much your experiences d environments have such a big influence on who you become and how you find yourself... probably a bit deep for saturday morning xxxx

  38. Now it's my turn to almost cry after reading this beautiful post.
Saying sorry can release so much angst. Well done little one.

  39. This girl really knows what it is all about, I can tell... That is a fantastic gift and will bring her far far faaaaar in life. Many of us never learn the skill of saying sorry from the heart. You've done a fantastic job as a parent (take it onboard, pat your shoulder, give yourself a hug!!!). Your daughter is an extraordinary person. Lovely.
